But first, we should mention that Gayle arrived! She got in much later than originally planned as she was on standby, but she did get bumped to business class on the Toronto - Amsterdam leg of her flight, so at least that made up for some of the delay. Must be nice to take a cheap flight and do it in style, eh?
We are all very much enjoying our visit with Nana so far. Chris has shown her around our new neighbourhood, the Commons, and yesterday took her on a tour of Mayfair! (How very hoitey toitey Christopher!) Today we're planning on taking in Kensington Palace and perhaps anything else that catches our fancy, but this will depend on transport - London transport in the snow!
They've been forecasting it for some time now, and I'll be honest - I'm a bit surprised that they got it right! We have seen London literally come to a grinding halt due to a light dusting before so we hope that this isn't what happens today, but we'll see. I was explaining it to Mom like this: "You know how the rest of Canada makes fun of Vancouver for not being able to handle the snow? Well Vancouverites would make a lot of fun of Londoners." We'll have to see how the city copes with it.
Sarah and I will see how another city copes with it as well. We are leaving Chris at home with his Nana overnight and heading for Oxford! We have had it on our list of places to visit since we moved here, and we thought that there would be no better time than when we could leave Chris with his grandparent and do the city on foot with ease. We are staying at on of the colleges that make up the university, so right "on campus!" It promises to be a great winter getaway for Sarah and me, and we will be sure to report back when we're home!
