A quick congratulations to Matt & Liz who got married last week. Sarah and I went to the lovely St Michael's Abbey in Farnborough and watched as the two said their vows. We had a great time at the ceremony, a lovely Catholic affair performed in Latin, which was something else to behold. (It was difficult to follow along in our program, but awesome to hear) The new Mr. & Mrs. Rose then hosted us for a wonderful reception, and we want to wish them both all the best. They are now on their honeymoon, and Matt will be shortly off to Thailand with work for the next 9 months! What an adventure!

Kyle & Maria, our good friends from high school (earlier for Sarah) came to London this past week to pay us and Kyle's family a visit. It was a wonderful week. We got to take them all around our neighbourhood and show off Battersea quite a bit, and then we took them on our "nearly-patented" Welcome to London and You're Staying With the Imries walk. We had such a good time catching up with them; we talked everything from old memories, to current events and news, business and politics to fashion and social media. They treated us to dinner at Jamie's Italian Kitchen - we share a love of Jamie Oliver's food, so that was an easy choice - and then said good b I've managed to do it now! If ever I thought there was going to be some way out of the cycle in September, a reason why I might not want to do it, it exists no longer. I have convinced two workmates of mine to sign up and do the ride with me and I am the Team Captain, so now there's even more pressure! I'm really looking forward to the ride. Phew! Talk about a whirlwind tour! My Auntie Jill and Uncle Roy got in touch only a week ago to say that they were coming into London - nothing definite in terms of when they were flying in or out, if they were both coming or just one of them, and no details on where they were staying. But it looked like they were both coming; "OK," said said Sarah and I, "we're on 'ready alert.' We'll prepare and be ready for a short-notice visit, but if they don't end up being able to make it work, or things just don't pan out, we will all be OK and see each other in a month in Toronto." Well kudos to Jill & Roy because they did make it work, and they made it work very well! Uncle Roy was in town for a product launch at Boots with his company (I hear Inhibitif is selling well!), and they wondered if we would have a chance to put them up. Unfortunately Chez Imrie was booked over that weekend, but nonetheless we managed to catch the two of them. Roy's work had him going, going, going! the whole time they were here, but Sunday (the day of the London Marathon) they walked (craziness!) from Covent Garden all the way back to ours. We met them and showed them just a snippet of the neighbourhood, and then went for a Sunday roast at the Goat. What a gre |
