I'm sure everyone's been there. You go away on vacation, maybe take an extended trip, and all of sudden you realize: you need a haircut, but you're hundreds and thousands of miles away from the person you regularly see. So, you figure, "I'll just pop in to a shop and get a quick trim." No big deal, you think. Just take a little off, clean it up around the edges, and out the door. But as you're walking out the door 20 minutes later, still wondering what just happened, you're now second-guessing yourself, saying, "I was speaking in English when I said, 'Just trim it up along the edges. I want it to look the same, just shorter.' " Right? How can it be difficult can it be to understand those instructions? "I want my hair to look the same way it does now, Mr Barber-man, but I want it to be shorter." And yet when you leave, you it feels awkward, you're instantly trying to make it look different, somehow more "normal." You're sporting the newest style on the block when you haven't changed your hairstyle in the last 10 years. It's an awful feeling, you feel like everyone's noticing this crap haircut you just got and laughing privately to themselves .... I will never take my hairdresser and the great job she does for granted!
So let's hope that I get a good haircut.
Oh, and by the way - GO CANUCKS GO!!
