Another block of time has passed us by since our last update ... hopefully everyone understood the message those pictures were getting across! We are very excited to have another bundle of joy on the way! Chris, at the tender age of two, doesn't really know what's happening yet but we are slowly introducing him to the idea of having a brother or sister around in the new year.
We visited the Tower of London last weekend. On a last minute whim, we decided that we would go and tour around, more or less just because we could. Sarah and I bought a membership to Historic Royal Palaces last year, so the visit to the Tower was free, and I haven't been for a proper daytime tour in about 4 years, so we thought it would be good to go. We took a riverboat up the Thames to arrive right next to the Tower's gates, and Chris loved it. He seems to love traveling up the Thames almost as much as he enjoys watching the red buses drive around the streets. We went to Kew Gardens this past Saturday to explore some more of London that we have not seen yet. It was quite an educational day, and very different from any other Royal experience that we have had in this fair city. Kew Palace, situated within the Gardens was much more a house than a palace, and I am not afraid to say that I think I have been in some private residences in my life that are bigger than Kew Palace! That aside, it is a Royal residence and we were surprised to learn that the Queen celebrated her 80th birthday there with a private dinner hosted by Charles & Camilla! I guess even the most quaint of Royal Residences are still Royal, eh?! The gardens themselves were very different from what I was expecting. It was very much a place filled with exotic and different trees, rather than a variety of colourful flowers. But it was a good vist nonetheless. We got to let Chris play in a very interesting kid's playground, then do a walk around an 18 metre high tree-top walkway; we say coffee plants and rubber trees, exotic palms, and much much more! Definitely a good visit! For now we have no big plans at the moment though; we are just going to slow down and continue enjoying the good weather that we're still having (a much more enjoyable low- to mid-twenties), and looking forward to getting to Scotland for gold in October! (Old Course here we come!). I have bought some new cycle gear in preparation for the ride in September (I am really looking forward to it!), and for now that's all! |
