If you're not familiar with The Vinyl Cafe, it is a radio programme from the CBC which is broadcast each week across the country and down into the US as well. It's also popular enough to have been picked up by the BBC, although it is relegated to Radio 7. Stuart McLean is the host and has been regaling us with tales of a family from modern day Toronto - Dave, the patriarch, Morely his long suffering wife, and their two children Stephanie and Sam - for over 20 years now. There are great introductions to every programme where Stuart talks us through a drive on the North Cape Coast of PEI, a ride on a ferry from Prince Rupert down the coast of BC, or the history of the St John's Newfoundland airport (the first place the Beatles stopped in North America!).
Stuart McLean's Vinyl Cafe had a great episode last week to get us into the Christmas spirit. Besides the usual bit of Canadiana, there were some great stories about all our favourite classic Christmas tunes and the artists behind them, and there were some great musical performances too. I was so taken with it that I had to share! It was the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit and I hope that if you listen too, you're as taken as I was!
