Well I am officially a London cyclist! Not that it's much to be excited about, but I have been inducted into the club of cyclists in the Capital that have been in an accident. I decided after work on Friday to get out for a quick ride before dinner. I did a quick check of the bike before jumping out, and wasn't more than 15 minutes into the ride when a car made a right-hand turn directly in front of me, and I went straight into his left-front fender and flew over the hood of his car. I landed gently considering, and was up in a shot. There were two Police Community Support Officers there, and they attended to me and the driver right away. I was initially a bit shaken, and annoyed at the jerk for not looking at where he was going, but then I got over it. After a lengthy wait for some police that never actually came, I was on my way. I rode home rather than continue

Well, we're back! Back from a wonderful visit with all of our family and friends in Canada (Toronto & Vancouver), and now we are back home in London. It feels great to be back home and settled (we are exhausted from all the visiting we did!) but it was such a good thing to see all of you and to have Chris meet so many of our friends - and make some friends of his own! We had a wonderful time visiting with all of you and appreciate everyone taking the time to accommodate our busy schedule. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the lunches, teas, and dinners. We had some truly great meals with all of you, and Sarah and I were not the least bit happy to dig into some Vancouver sushi while we were there. I think it was day one that we both had an order of poutine for lunch, and some sushi for dinner. (A weird combination, I know, but sometimes you feel homesick for the strangest things!
We were really happy for some very special visits that were truly firsts for us. Chris got to meet his great grandparents in Ontario for the first time. We went to Lindsay to meet Great Grandma & Great Grandpa Imrie, and had small reunion of sorts; Uncle Craig & Aunt Barb Imrie came, and so did their two daughters and family - Tanya, Anita, Morgan, Kayla, and Bradon. We rode up there with Auntie Ann & Uncle John, and had a wonderful lunch with everyone. The next morning we had a lunch with Great Nana & Great Grandpa Carruthers. It was a wonderful visit at Auntie Barb & Uncle Dave's house, and we were so happy that Chris was able to meet so many of our extended family in Ontario. Back in Richmond, we were able to have a dinner and meet Ryan Ireland for the very first time, which was quite special. The little guy was three months old when we finally got to say hello, and he's extremely cute! We also met another baby for the first time, and that was little Zachery Karim! Zack was born to Farouk & Sheena just a week earlier, so was super tiny - and Sarah's and my guesses were confirmed when we met Zack - Farouk & Sheena make beautiful babies! What a little cutie he was, and we were so lucky to be there at just the right time to meet him! Now that we're back, we can reminisce about being at home, but it's nice to be back and to feel settled once again. We've had about as much of a summer as everyone back in Vancouver - which basically means it's been non-existent so far. We haven't had too much rain of late, but it's certainly not been very sunny. That's all we're hoping for now! Chris has made the move into his big-boy bed, and has taken to it very well. I am a bit jealous in a way. This kid is now sleeping in a double bed before the age of two, and i had to wait until my twenties and I had moved out to leave my single bed behind! Well, now that we're up to date, I'll sign off and we'll talk again soon! ~Bryan |
